The game invites players to solve mysteries within a virtual world. LEVEL-5 CEO Akihiro Hino described the project as a fresh approach to detective work that unfolds in this digital environment. The core loop relies on puzzle-based mechanics similar to the Professor Layton series, but the narrative structure diverges significantly. Hino noted that the story centers on a great mystery with twists and turns unlike anything the studio has produced before.
DECAPOLICE will launch on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The development team is working with SCRAP to build the game’s foundation. LEVEL-5 acknowledged that getting the game ready is taking time, but they remain focused on delivering a unique gameplay experience. The studio plans to share more details about the title in the future.
Players will have a chance to see the game in action before it ships. LEVEL-5 confirmed that DECAPOLICE will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs from September 17 to 21. This preview event offers the first opportunity for the public to interact with the delayed title. The studio uses this window to demonstrate progress while the broader release window shifts to 2027.
