Visual Concepts released a major update for WWE 2K26 on September 9, bringing fresh roster additions and new gameplay mechanics to players. This patch matters because it expands the game's content library with high-profile characters and introduces fresh moves that change how players approach matches. Gamers who subscribe to the Ringside Pass now have access to Season 5 content without needing to purchase a new title.
New characters and moves arrive in September 9 patch
The update, identified as version 1.017/1.16, ships on all platforms simultaneously. Visual Concepts confirmed the release in a statement noting the goal is to bring Ringside Pass Season 5 to the player base. This release follows the July 22 patch that introduced Season 4, continuing the game's seasonal content model.
The roster expansion includes four new playable Superstars: Danhausen, Bam Bam Bigelow, Brie Bella, and Pagano. These additions allow players to utilize distinct wrestling styles and historical personas in their matches. The update also integrates these characters into The Island mode, which receives Chapter 3 with a new storyline involving Stephanie McMahon.
Players can now execute four new moves: the High Kick Combo, Suplex Facebuster, Springboard Phoenix Splash, and Tequila Shot. These additions provide more variety in offensive strategies and combo chains. The patch also includes a free track featuring personas for Alexa Bliss '25, Drew McIntyre '10, and Triple H '99, offering customization options for veteran fans.
We looked at the last WWE 2K26 update earlier while tracking seasonal content drops, and this release continues that pattern of steady roster expansion. The update is now live for all users on supported platforms. Players can download the patch immediately to access the new characters and moves.
The September 9 update delivers the promised Season 5 content for Ringside Pass subscribers. New Superstars and moves are now available in-game. The Island mode storyline continues with the latest chapter.
