Nintendo is adjusting its hardware strategy for the Switch 2 by raising the base price and introducing themed bundles that include digital games and subscriptions. This shift means buyers will face a higher entry cost for the console starting in September, while those interested in specific titles can opt for pre-packaged deals. The price hike affects the standalone unit, but the bundles offer a way to offset some of that increase by including additional value.
Standard console cost rises while themed packages include digital games
The company revealed two new package options for the Switch 2, each pairing the console with a digital game code and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership. The first option, the Mario Kart World Bundle, features the upcoming racing title and is scheduled to launch in late September. The second option, the Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Bundle, pairs the console with the sports game and arrives on October 22.
The standard Switch 2 retail price will increase to $499.99 on September 1. The Mario Kart World Bundle is priced at $549.99, which represents a savings of $37.98 compared to buying the console, game, and membership separately. The Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Bundle costs $529.99, offering a savings of $27.98 over individual purchases. Both bundles include the same digital game code and subscription term as their respective counterparts.
These bundles provide a bundled pricing model that simplifies the initial setup for new users by including online access. The price increase to $499.99 for the standard unit sets a new baseline for the hardware. We looked at Nintendo Music Expands to Desktop, Tablet, in our earlier Nintendo coverage.
