Bandai Namco is expanding Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO with a major downloadable content pack that adds significant new content for fighting game fans. The 'Super Limit-Breaking NEO' DLC launches on July 30 and introduces a new solo mode alongside a wave of new characters. This update extends the game's lifespan by adding substantial gameplay content instead of relying solely on cosmetic items. Players on all supported platforms will get access to these additions on the same day.

New DLC pack brings RPG-style journey and free mechanics update

The DLC features 33 new playable characters drawn from across the Dragon Ball franchise, including titles like Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and Dragon Ball GT. The new fighters join the existing roster, providing players with additional options for custom battles and team compositions. The content is developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco for global release.

A key addition is the 'Limit Breaker Journey,' a new solo mode that functions as an RPG-style experience. According to the producer letter, this mode allows players to choose their favorite character and develop their abilities through a variety of battles. The DLC also includes four new stages and four new Episode Battles to explore. These additions offer a structured narrative or challenge path distinct from the standard versus modes.

Bandai Namco is also releasing a free update that adds two new mechanics to the base game. The 'Sparking! Boost' feature lets players spend a large amount of Skill Stock for enhanced effects. A new mechanic called 'Chain Blast' creates additional follow-up opportunities during combat. These free updates aim to deepen the strategic layer of the fighting game for all players.
