Jagex is bringing RuneScape Dragonwilds to major home consoles, expanding the game's reach beyond PC. This move targets a massive existing audience of past and current players who already own gaming hardware. The release allows fans to access the survival sim spin-off on the devices they already use daily.
Jagex expands survival sim to PS5, Xbox, and Switch 2 on September 15
The title launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 15, 2026. It is distinct from the mainline RuneScape and Old School RuneScape experiences. The game is currently available in early access on Steam for PC players.

Jagex estimates that approximately 18 million past RuneScape players are on console platforms. This includes about 6 million historical players on each of the main platforms, Xbox and PlayStation. The company counts about twice that number, roughly 12 million, on Switch.
Jon Bellamy, Jagex CEO, highlighted these player numbers in recent comments. He stated that the company has done the numbers on console presence. The goal is to reach up to 18 million past and present RuneScape players with this release.
