YouTube expands its AI deepfake detection tool to all creators over 18, allowing them to detect and request removal of unauthorized AI-generated content using their likeness.

YouTube is expanding its deepfake detection tool to all creators over the age of 18. The tool helps identify when a creator's face or likeness is used in AI-generated videos without permission.

Tool detects unauthorized use of creator likeness

The feature can detect unauthorized use of a creator's likeness in AI-generated content. If detected, creators can request removal of the offending video. Enrollment is done through YouTube Studio under 'Content Detection' then 'Likeness', and requires ID verification.

The tool is now available globally to all creators over 18. Previously, it was limited to Partner Program members, journalists, and politicians.

Team YouTube stated that the goal of the initiative is to provide creators with 'peace of mind'. The Verge reported on the expansion.
