Riot Games is removing the Valorant agent Waylay from the game effective July 31, 2026. This change directly impacts players who rely on her specific kit for competitive matches. The decision addresses a core gameplay imbalance that has drawn community attention.

Controller agent pulled from live service due to ability imbalance

Waylay was a controller agent known for her Refract ability. The ability enabled the agent to generate a reflective surface that deflected incoming projectiles. While the mechanic offered distinct tactical options, it also raised notable balance issues.

The core problem involved how the Refract ability interacted with the game's hit registration and damage systems. Riot Games concluded that the ability resulted in unintended gameplay advantages or technical bugs. The removal eliminates these specific technical conflicts from the active roster.

The official Valorant account confirmed the change with a brief social media post. The statement read, "Don't miss her too much." This marks the end of Waylay's time in the live service environment.

Waylay is no longer available for selection in any game mode. Players must adjust their strategies to accommodate the current agent pool. By removing the problematic mechanic, the update aims to restore balance to the controller role.
