One More Level, the studio behind Ghostrunner, is shifting genres with its next game, Valor Mortis. The first-person soulslike is set in 1800s France and combines red magic with parkour mechanics. It launches on PC and console on October 13, 2026, after being delayed from September to avoid competition from GTA 6 and other major releases.
One More Level brings first-person expertise to soulslike genre
Valor Mortis retains the first-person perspective that defined Ghostrunner, but applies it to a soulslike framework. Game Director Radosław Ratusznik says the team wanted to build on their expertise in first-person action games. He explains that the perspective opens up new opportunities for the genre.
The game is described as a soulslike from the first-person, not simply a first-person soulslike. This distinction suggests a focus on immersive combat and exploration through a first-person lens. The 1800s France setting with red magic and parkour elements sets it apart from typical soulslike titles.
We looked at Valor Mortis earlier while tracking upcoming soulslike releases. The game is scheduled for a worldwide launch on October 13, 2026, on PC and consoles. One More Level aims to deliver a fresh take on the genre with its signature first-person design.
