THQ Nordic Mobile rebrands HandyGames to focus on premium mobile ports
GAMES

THQ Nordic Mobile is the new name for the publishing arm of HandyGames, marking a strategic shift in how the company targets mobile gamers. This rebranding signals a clear intent to bring premium PC and console experiences to iOS and Android devices, a move that matters to players who want high-quality ports on their phones. The company is no longer operating under its legacy label for publishing, though its development roots remain visible elsewhere.

The publishing division adopts a new name while the development studio keeps its heritage

The entity formerly known as HandyGames now functions as THQ Nordic Mobile, a publishing division focused exclusively on mobile platforms. This change allows the publisher to align its brand identity with the premium titles it intends to bring to handheld screens. Meanwhile, the internal development team based in Giebelstadt, Germany, continues its work under the original HandyGames Studios name, preserving the 26-year heritage of the developer.

Christopher Kassulke and Markus Kassulke, the co-founders of the original company, continue to lead both the new publishing arm and the development studio. Their dual leadership ensures that the strategic realignment does not disrupt the operational continuity of the studios. The company describes this move as a strategic realignment with an exclusive focus on premium, critically acclaimed PC and console titles adapted for mobile.

This structural change separates the publishing identity from the development studio, allowing each to maintain its specific brand equity. Players interested in the HandyGames Studios portfolio will find no immediate changes to the development team or its location. The rebranding primarily affects how the company markets and distributes its mobile-focused titles going forward.
