A fan-made expansion for The Witcher 3: Next-Gen recreates a cut questline from the original game. The project uses official modding tools to restore narrative content that developers originally removed before launch.
Modders use official tools to reconstruct the original Plague questline for The Witcher 3: Next-Gen
The WAR Project targets The Witcher 3: Next-Gen and relies on CDPR's REDKit development platform. Modders mined the game's string database to reconstruct scripts for the Plague questline, which never appeared in the final release of the base title.
The current build functions as a demo version of the expansion. The complete mod will deliver more than 10 hours of gameplay once finished. CDPR released REDKit in 2024, which gave creators direct access to the game's internal data structures and asset pipelines.
Several existing quests face changes during this conversion process. The vanilla versions of An Eye for an Eye and Reason of State get rewritten or removed entirely because their storylines conflict with later patches and updates that altered the game world.
The final release targets a 2027 availability window. The schedule enables creators to refine story alignment and resolve technical problems ahead of the complete release.
