Unknown Worlds released Subnautica 2 Hotfix 4 on July 14 to resolve critical progression blockers and stability issues on PC and Xbox. This update matters because a specific bug prevented some players from opening Angel Combs, which effectively halted their game progress. We expect this fix to restore normal gameplay flow for affected users who were previously stuck.
July 14 patch resolves progression blockers and Xbox crashes
The hotfix addresses a visual glitch where water currents appeared incorrectly inside player-built bases. These phantom currents previously interfered with movement, caused players to get stuck, and prevented base expansion. Resolving this issue allows builders to construct and navigate their underwater facilities without unexpected physics interference.
- Fixed Issue: Angel Combs: Fixed Angel Combs not opening for some players, blocking progression
- Fixed Issue: Water Currents: Fixed water currents appearing in player bases, affecting movement, getting stuck, or being unable to build or expand bases
- Fixed Issue: Xbox FOV: Fixed FOV slider not showing on Xbox
- Fixed Issue: Xbox Crash: Crash on Xbox when trying to join a session invite
- Fixed Issue: Creature Spawn Crash: Crash related to creature spawn
Xbox players received fixes for two distinct crashes that disrupted multiplayer sessions. The first crash occurred when attempting to join a session via an invite, and the second was linked to creature spawning events. Additionally, the update restores the Field of View (FOV) slider, which was previously missing from the Xbox settings menu.
Community mods are not yet compatible with this hotfix, so players should disable them temporarily to avoid instability. When we covered the last Subnautica 2 update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. This pattern suggests ongoing refinement of the game's core mechanics and multiplayer stability.
Unknown Worlds confirmed the Angel Combs fix directly in the patch notes. The developer also resolved the Xbox FOV visibility issue and the two low-volume crashes. Players can now proceed with the game without the previous progression or session barriers.
