Unknown Worlds Entertainment released Hotfix 2 for Subnautica 2 on May 22. The update arrives while the game remains in Early Access and early in its release cycle.
Patch adds resources, fixes crashes, and improves performance in Early Access game
The patch adds additional Silver resource areas to the early game region and more Troilite resources to the late game region. It adjusts Hammerhead behavior to reduce attraction to Tadpole lights. Developers also fixed a bug that teleported players back to base during Tadpole exploration. The update resolves an infinite oxygen issue after hunger or thirst death while piloting a Tadpole. Hotfix 2 addresses multiplayer disconnection crashes and fixes random late-game region crashes. It improves performance when using Epic visual settings.
The game has sold one million copies since launch. Subnautica 2 shattered the peak player count of the first game in its series.
Developers stated there are no hard deadlines for updates. The team wants freedom to develop the game as they wish without pressure from promised dates.
