Valve has released a new beta client update for the Steam Deck. The patch focuses on fixing issues with the Steam Controller and improving the overall user experience. Several bugs that affected input and navigation have been addressed.
Beta patch targets Steam Controller issues
The update resolves a problem where streamable non-Steam games appeared in the Library even when Remote Play was turned off. It also fixes the 'View friends list' link, which was opening an older version instead of the Quick Access Menu. Steam Controller grip thresholds no longer load incorrectly, and doubled input when the controller is charging on the puck has been fixed. Additionally, an option to disable Joystick vs Trackpad Locking behavior has been added.
Steam Deck users can now customize their input experience more precisely. The new toggle for Joystick vs Trackpad Locking gives players control over how the device handles simultaneous input from both controls. This change is part of ongoing refinements to the Steam Deck's software.
