Jagex delivered a major visual overhaul to Runescape that marks the most significant graphical update for the game in over ten years. The patch remasters player avatars with higher fidelity and more realistic facial features. The update alters player appearances throughout the game's setting.

Jagex rebuilt character models from scratch to support new customization layers.

The changes apply to all player characters regardless of account type. Jagex rebuilt character models from scratch to support new customization layers. Players can now select from fresh hairstyles, facial hair options, and updated clothing meshes.

Work on the revamped avatars began in 2021 according to principal concept artist David Barker. Developers optimized visual enhancements to run smoothly on various devices. Existing game progress remains unaffected by the visual changes.

The visual refresh follows a January removal of the Treasure Hunter monetization system from the game. The developer previously removed a randomized reward system following community concerns about game balance. This visual overhaul represents the most significant content release in recent months.

The studio introduced these changes after years of player suggestions for visual updates. Earlier patches emphasized gameplay adjustments over appearance modifications. The current release prioritizes graphical refinement and player customization options.
