SOFTWARE AND UPDATES

The Rhino team released version 2026.1 of its Ubuntu-based rolling release distribution. This update adds Lomiri interface support to both desktop and mobile platforms via generic ISO images for x86_64 and ARM64 architectures.

Ubuntu-based rolling release distro expands Lomiri interface availability across x86_64 and ARM64 architectures with Pacstall 6.4.x updates

The operating system uses the Xfce desktop environment and integrates Pacstall as a core package management component alongside APT, Snaps, and Flatpaks. The release ships with Pacstall 6.4.x series software that introduces new internal variables and export capabilities for scripts.

Generic ISO images come equipped with kernel version 7.0.9-generic by default. The distribution also provides specialized kernels including 6.18.32-sunxi for PinePhone devices, 6.18.32-rockchip for the PinePhone Pro, 6.9.0-okpine for the PineTab2, and 7.0.0-raspi for Raspberry Pi hardware.

Users can download all available ISO images from the official project page where files are hosted on SourceForge. The Rhino Linux team describes the Lomiri support on generic systems as an evolving experience while noting they will continue working with the UBports team to improve desktop and mobile functionality.
