Buyers of Retroid handhelds are getting a surprise hardware boost just as the company prepares to end production. Retroid is quietly upgrading its final inventory of the Pocket 5 and Pocket Flip 2 with more memory and faster screens. This update gives current owners better performance without requiring a new purchase, though the window to buy these discounted units is closing fast.

Retroid discounts final Pocket 5 and Flip 2 units by $30 as production ends

The Retroid Pocket 5 and the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 now ship with 12GB of RAM instead of the previous 8GB standard. Both devices also feature 120Hz displays, a significant jump from the standard 60Hz panels found in earlier batches. We verified these hardware changes using the PULSE app and ADB commands on recent units.

Retroid is discounting these final units by $30 as it discontinues the models. The Retroid Pocket 5 is available for $179. The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 equipped with the SD865 processor is priced at $189. These prices reflect the immediate clearance of remaining stock.

The 120Hz display feature is currently software-locked in the operating system. Users must install the PULSE app to activate the higher refresh rate on a per-app basis. This limitation means the hardware upgrade is not fully seamless out of the box, requiring manual configuration for the best experience.

When we covered the last Retroid Pocket 5, Retroid Pocket Flip 2 update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. This latest hardware shift prioritizes raw specs over software polish for the final run of these devices. Buyers interested in these specific models should act quickly before the inventory runs out.
