Pocket Trap is bringing its action title Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo to the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 20. This free upgrade lets players who already own the game on other platforms experience it on Nintendo's latest hardware without buying it again. The move expands the game's reach to a new console audience while keeping the cost at zero for existing owners.
Free upgrade delivers 120fps handheld and docked 4K HDR visuals
The Switch 2 version of Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo runs at 1080p resolution in handheld mode. It targets a smooth 120 frames per second during gameplay on the portable device. When connected to a TV via the dock, the game switches to 4K resolution. The display also supports High Dynamic Range for improved visual contrast and color depth.
Pocket Trap confirmed these technical specifications in a statement about the upcoming release. The developer noted that the Switch 2 version will offer 120 frames per second gameplay in handheld mode at 1080p resolution. They added that the game will run at 4K resolution while docked, as well as HDR support. This performance tier matches the capabilities of the Switch 2 hardware.
The game originally launched on May 28, 2025, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. The August 20 release on Switch 2 serves as a free upgrade for those who purchased the title on the original Switch or other consoles. This allows current owners to access the enhanced visuals and frame rates on the new system at no extra charge.
