Kinetic Games released the Quality-of-Life 2 update for Phasmophobia on August 25, bringing changes that affect how players gather evidence and interact with the game world. This patch matters because it introduces new map variants and improves the visual feedback for evidence collection, which helps teams identify ghost types more reliably during hunts. Players on all platforms can download the update today to access these features and stability fixes.
New Restricted map variants and improved evidence detection arrive on all platforms
The update arrives as version 0.19.00 for PC and version 1.000.046 for console platforms. Kinetic Games designed this release to address long-standing usability issues while expanding the variety of locations available for investigation. This update modifies the core gameplay while maintaining the fundamental survival mechanics that define Phasmophobia.
New Restricted variants have been added to the Prison, Brownstone High School, and Point Hope maps. The update introduces Restricted variants for Prison, Brownstone High School, and Point Hope, offering new configurations for players. The update also introduces visual cues to video, photo, and sound recording equipment when duplicate evidence is detected. This change allows players to see when multiple pieces of evidence match a ghost type without relying solely on text logs.
The journal user interface now displays other players' evidence selections and includes an 'Items We’ve Found' section. This improvement helps teams coordinate their investigations by making shared data visible in real time. Kinetic Games applied significant bug fixes to network stability, VR interactions, ghost behavior, and equipment physics. The developer stated that the title update brings these Restricted map variants and new video camera features to improve the overall experience.
When we covered the last Phasmophobia update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. The Quality-of-Life 2 update focuses on interface enhancements, recording equipment cues, and bug fixes rather than introducing new game modes. The update is available now for all supported platforms, allowing players to immediately test the new Restricted maps and interface changes.
