SNK has announced the Neo Geo AES+, a new console that plays original and new AES cartridges natively. The system uses re-engineered ASIC chips instead of emulation. Pre-orders are open now, and the console launches on November 12, 2026.
Console outputs 1080p over HDMI with low latency
The Neo Geo AES+ outputs 1080p video over HDMI with low latency. It also retains the original AV output. The console includes stereo sound and on-screen BIOS and DIP switches. It is compatible with both original and newly released AES cartridges.
The standard black version of the Neo Geo AES+ is priced at 249.99 USD (about $250). An Anniversary Edition costs 349.99 USD (about $350). The Ultimate Edition is available for 999.99 USD (about $1,000). Re-released AES cartridges are sold separately at 89.99 USD (about $89.99) each.
According to RetroRGB, the console's re-engineered ASIC chips aim for accurate hardware replication without emulation. However, timing accuracy and audio fidelity compared to original hardware remain unverified without hands-on testing. SNK has not confirmed further details on those aspects.
