Mortal Shell 2 launched today on Steam, bringing a demanding action-RPG to the Steam Machine handheld. Players can now test the game's performance on portable hardware without needing a desktop PC. The title is available globally for 49.99 USD (around $49.99).

Optimized TSR upscaling and resolution settings for handheld play
The game runs on the Steam Machine, a handheld device powered by SteamOS. Playstack developed the title for PC and handheld platforms. The Steam Machine shares its underlying architecture with the Steam Deck, allowing similar optimization strategies.
Performance testing shows the game maintains a stable 60 FPS at 4K resolution (3860×2140). This requires setting the graphics preset to High and using TSR upscaling at Ultra Performance. The system handles the native 4K resolution with minor frame drops.
We recommend 2K resolution (2560×1440) with TSR upscaling at Balanced for the best balance of quality and performance. Hardware Ray Tracing is optional and playable with minor adjustments to settings. The game supports upscaling technologies to maintain smooth gameplay on handheld hardware.
We looked at the last Mortal Shell 2 update earlier while tracking stability improvements. That previous version focused on balance changes that carry over to this release. The current build includes those same stability themes.
Mortal Shell 2 is now available for purchase on Steam. The game supports 4K output with upscaling and optional ray tracing. Players can expect stable 60 FPS performance on the Steam Machine with the recommended settings.
