Modder Nobbie248 has released a new software modification that allows players to experience the GameCube title Metroid Prime in virtual reality on PC. This update targets fans of the first-person shooter who want to explore the game's environments with full motion controls and immersive head tracking. The release provides a new way to interact with the classic game using modern VR hardware.

Modder Nobbie248 releases PrimedGun for PC with full motion controls

The modification, named PrimedGun, functions as a specialized build based on the Dolphin ReduX emulator. It transforms the original flat-screen experience into a fully immersive VR environment. The modder focused on improving the VR experience by integrating modern control schemes that replace the original gamepad inputs.

PrimedGun supports six degrees of freedom for the arm cannon, allowing players to aim and shoot with physical precision. It also includes visor head tracking to match the player's gaze with the in-game perspective. The modder recommends setting the headset refresh rate to 120 Hz for optimal performance and suggests using SteamVR or Virtual Desktop instead of Meta OpenXR.

Users can interact with the game world using hand gesture input for improved targeting and navigation. The modification requires the NTSC Revision 0 (1.0) game file to function correctly. Those interested in testing the mod can download version 1.0.1 from the official GitHub repository.
