Huawei Pura X Non-Folding Phone Leaks With Kirin 9000 Chip

Leaks suggest Huawei is testing a non-folding Pura X smartphone featuring a 16:10 display, Kirin 9000 chipset, and a 7000mAh battery for late 2026.

Huawei is testing a new non-folding smartphone that breaks from its traditional foldable designs. The device aims to offer a wider viewing area for media consumption and productivity tasks.

Engineering prototypes reveal a widescreen design with dual cameras and massive power.

The phone, known internally as the Pura X, targets users who prefer a standard slab design but want more screen real estate than typical flagships provide. The device is expected to fill a gap in the current smartphone portfolio by offering a distinct form factor that bridges the standard flat-screen series and the folding category.

Engineering prototypes reveal a 16:10 display with 2K-class resolution. The camera system pairs a 50MP primary sensor with a large 1/1.3-inch format alongside a matching 50MP periscope telephoto lens. A multispectral sensor rounds out the imaging setup.

Power comes from the next-generation Kirin 9000 series chipset paired with a massive 7,000mAh battery. Leaks indicate the large cell fits into a thin and lightweight chassis despite the bigger footprint.

Digital Chat Station reported seeing an engineering prototype that confirmed the internal layout and physical dimensions. The tipster noted the device maintains a slim profile even with the expanded screen area and larger battery capacity.

The phone is expected to launch after the Mate 90 series, potentially arriving before the end of 2026. Final specifications could shift as development continues toward that window.

Huawei has not confirmed release dates or pricing for this model yet. The company continues to refine the prototype while preparing for a late 2026 market entry.
