Diablo 4 players have discovered a trick to protect their best item rolls when using the Horadric Cube. The method involves rerolling a desired affix at the Occultist before performing a crafting recipe.

The trick works for greater affixes and any affix the player wants to keep. Only one affix can be preserved per item through enchanting. This allows players to safeguard a valuable stat while still attempting to improve other properties.
The technique was shared by Max 'Wudijo', a well-known Diablo 4 player. It provides a way to reduce the risk of losing a perfect roll during the crafting process.
Blizzard Entertainment has not officially commented on this trick. It remains unclear whether the developer considers it an intended mechanic or a bug to be fixed.
