The studio will concentrate its resources on Marathon while it navigates this transition period. This strategic pivot follows years of live-service operations with Destiny 2. The layoffs reflect a broader restructuring of development teams across the company.
Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 will remain online and playable after its final content update arrives in June. The team plans to deliver a comprehensive patch featuring quality-of-life improvements, new events, and weapon updates. Players can expect Pantheon 2.0, raid and dungeon adjustments, and the permanent return of Sparrow Racing League.
