Apex Legends players will see significant changes to character abilities and weapon configurations starting June 23. The mid-season patch 3.14 targets competitive balance by restoring power to underused legends while curbing dominant picks. This update matters because it shifts the meta toward characters who previously struggled in ranked play or fell out of favor after recent nerfs.

Respawn Entertainment adjusts character abilities and weapon stats to shift the competitive landscape.

Respawn Entertainment released the patch for all platforms, with console players seeing the download appear as version 3.14/1.000.128. The developer adjusted core abilities across six legends to address pickrate disparities and battlefield control issues. The developers intend these adjustments to foster a broader roster of playable characters, ensuring each legend remains competitive and strategically relevant.

Ballistic received buffs to his Passive, Tactical, and Ultimate abilities after falling near the bottom of the pickrate charts. His Tactical charge increased from one to two, allowing faster ability usage in combat situations. Pathfinder also gained tactical advantages with an additional charge for his Tactical and a reduced cooldown on his Ultimate, dropping from three minutes down to two minutes.

Seer received quality-of-life improvements that include faster heartbeat sensor activation and reduced delays, which make tracking enemies more reliable. Axle faced nerfs that reduce the maximum number of in-world Tacticals to two and lower hit points from 150 to 100. Mad Maggie experienced a cooldown increase on her Tactical ability from twenty-two seconds to twenty-eight seconds.

Weapon balance changes include reduced magazine sizes for the Hemlok Breach AR across all tiers, with the white tier dropping from twenty-one rounds to twenty. The game introduced a new hop-up called Executioner for the Peacekeeper and Mastiff shotguns while removing Dual Shell from the Mastiff and Disruptor Rounds from the Peacekeeper. Map rotations now use Storm Point, World’s Edge, and Kings Canyon for pub matches, with E-District replacing Kings Canyon in ranked play.

Ranked Ladders seven through eleven are scheduled for July and August 2026, following a removal of the Champion Squad screen to reduce player frustration during match starts. The developer fixed several bugs involving bots not looting weapons, Deathbox respawn issues, and weapon energizing problems with Infinite Ammo. When we covered the last apex legends update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up.

The patch delivers concrete adjustments that affect daily gameplay loops for both casual and competitive players. Ballistic gains more utility while Maggie faces stricter cooldowns to maintain competitive integrity across all platforms.
