Halo: Campaign Evolved hits PC on July 28, and early performance numbers suggest even the most powerful graphics card will struggle at native 4K. A preview build running on an 5090 and Ryzen 9 9950X3D delivers 90 to 120 frames per second at native 1440p with Ultra settings and DLAA enabled.

Preview build tested on flagship hardware

The game is the latest entry in Microsoft's long-running first-person shooter franchise. The preview was tested by content creator jackfrags, who recorded framerate dips into the 90s during a tank sequence. The RTX 5090 is currently NVIDIA's flagship consumer GPU.

  • Resolution: Native 1440p
  • Framerate: 90-120 FPS
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
  • Upscaling: DLAA

At native 1440p with Ultra settings and DLAA, the RTX 5090 averages around 120 FPS but drops to 100 FPS and occasionally into the 90s. The preview build lacks a hardware Lumen ray tracing setting and does not include DLSS 4 Ray Reconstruction or . According to DSOGaming, native 4K at Ultra settings is not achievable on the RTX 5090.

Microsoft's official PC requirements list an RTX 4080 for 4K/Ultra at 60 FPS. Given that the RTX 5090 cannot maintain 60 FPS at native 4K/Ultra, the RTX 4080 target likely relies on upscaling. The game includes a third-person mode activated via the Perspective Skull.

Halo: Campaign Evolved launches globally on July 28. The preview build was tested on a system with an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU.

The performance data comes from a preview build and may change before release. What is confirmed is that native 4K/Ultra gaming on the RTX 5090 is not possible without upscaling, and the official system requirements likely assume upscaling is enabled.
