ASUS ROG has revealed the ROG Xbox Ally X20, a limited-edition handheld gaming PC unveiled at Computex 2026 to mark the franchise’s 20th anniversary. The device pairs a new translucent shell with gold buttons and a glowing green Xbox Mode button, but its most significant change is a shift in how it delivers content. Instead of functioning as a standalone portable console, the Ally X20 will only be available bundled with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses.

The hardware inside remains largely familiar to users of the original ROG Xbox Ally X. ASUS retained the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor and Radeon 890M GPU from the previous generation, along with 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD. The handheld features a new 7.4-inch OLED display that bumps the resolution to 1920 x 1080 while maintaining a 120Hz refresh rate. This panel supports ROG Nebula HDR and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) for smoother visuals.

The system runs on an upgraded ROG Intelligent Cooling setup that uses dual fans but keeps noise levels capped at 30dB.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, Thunderbolt 4, and USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports alongside a microSD Express slot for expandable storage. The device measures 300 x 121.1 x 51.3mm and weighs 756g, maintaining a form factor suitable for handheld gaming. It houses an 80Wh battery that supports Power Delivery 3.0 charging.
The bundled AR glasses change how users interact with games when docked. ASUS states that docked gameplay scales from 720p to 1440p while being powered entirely by the system's NPU. This configuration automatically enables VRR and Ultra Low Latency Mode for responsive cloud or local streaming. The device will launch globally later this year, but availability is strictly limited to those who purchase it with the AR glasses bundle.
Pricing details remain unconfirmed by ASUS, with estimates suggesting the bundled package may range from $2,000 to $3,000. The company confirmed it will share more details closer to the release window. The ROG Xbox Ally X20 will be exclusively available bundled with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses.
