An 81-year-old developer has released a sequel to his classic 1987 game after a 37-year gap. Colin Porch finally completed the project under the title Blacktooth: A Head Over Heels Adventure. The release marks the end of a long development cycle that stalled for decades.

Porch overcame decades of legal uncertainty and market shifts to finally publish the puzzle game sequel for classic home computers.

Thalamus Digital published the game for Amiga and Atari ST systems. The sequel continues the puzzle-focused gameplay and isometric perspective established in the original 1987 title. The sequel brings players back into a recognizable setting featuring refined gameplay systems developed across decades of work.

Development faced significant delays due to unresolved intellectual property rights. Porch could not market the game until he identified the rights holders for the original characters. The legal uncertainty kept the project dormant long after initial work began.

Porch received encouragement from his former boss to complete the game. His ex-employer cited a strong demand for retro games as motivation to revisit the abandoned sequel. Encouragement from his former employer regarding the strong market for retro titles motivated him to complete the project.

The release arrives amid growing nostalgia for classic gaming experiences. Adrian Page-Mitchell from the Centre for Computing History noted that fans still remember the original title fondly. Growing nostalgia among fans of classic gaming established an eager community ready to experience the delayed sequel.

Blacktooth: A Head Over Heels Adventure is now available on Amiga and Atari ST platforms. Thalamus Digital handles distribution of the completed sequel. The game stands as a rare example of a decades-long development cycle finally reaching completion.
