The new Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold release date will now be February 23rd 2027 instead of January. This is a delay from the initial planned release timeline to allow Square Enix more time to refine their 6th major expansion content before they introduce it to players globally. This means you'll have to update your plans if you were going to pre-order or purchase the new title.
Square Enix pushes release date to February 23, 2027, for sixth major expansion
The team at Square Enix is working hard to get this expansion ready as the launch of The Godless Realms Saga is set to begin. This will be a new chapter in the narrative for their MMORPG. They have made it known that pre-orders for the game are going to officially begin November 4th 2026. This will allow them to get the commitment they want from their current player base of over 35M registered accounts.
In the new content they are adding a new job class. This new class is known as Zephyr and it's a Ranged Crossbowman class. When you take on the role of this new class you will have a flying buddy that will accompany you, Nephele. This will give players more tactical options in combat if they want to focus on Ranged options.
You'll get access to the new expansion content early as they will open the early access on February 19th 2027. This is 4 days before the overall release of the content to everyone globally. This way if you pre-order and purchase the expansion content early you can get a headstart on this new Saga before everyone else. But the delay from the initial January release allows them to have more time to work out any development issues they may be facing before that early access date arrives.
