ACCESSORIES

Black Shark's 2026 Autumn event event saw the launch of the Rift Split Controller. This modular gaming peripheral is made for mobile and hybrid gaming. The company is looking at those people who want to use mobile gaming/ console controls on their smartphone, tablet and more in a portable way without having to carry around a dedicated chunky handheld. To us it makes for a sensible option for those users who have a variety of devices and want to link them all up with a single controller.

Split design controller with Hall Effect triggers hits Chinese market

The controller separates into two pieces that can be linked together with Bluetooth or a USB-C cable. Black Shark primarily targeted smartphones and tablets with this controller, but has confirmed that it can also be used with PCs and consoles. The split design means you can either use the controls separately or pair them with a display.

The controller comes with Hall Effect thumbsticks and triggers. You can change these from linear to non-linear. You get action buttons that utilize esports grade micro switches for 0.3mm travel.

Up to 5 million clicks is possible with these switches. You get 600mAh battery in both halves of the controller. This means you get a total battery capacity of 1,200mAh for the whole thing.

Black Shark says you can get up to 10 hours of gaming and 14 hours of gaming (power saving mode). It also comes with a braided USB cable so you can charge it and connect it using the cable. Do keep in mind that some are looking at this and calling it a rebadge of the Redmi GamePad which came out in 2025. However, Black Shark is positioning this as its own thing.

You can already purchase the Rift Split Controller. It's now available in China for 379 CNY or about $56.83. This is cheaper than the already released Redmi GamePad.

So, in terms of split controllers it's a budget option. For those in China you can already buy it through local sources.

Just another rebadge of the Redmi GamePad. Black Shark is not trying to hide it. The split design is nice for portability though. I would wait for a price drop.
