Mobile gaming enthusiasts with an iQOO-branded handset will have a new peripheral to check out, especially those who value the hardiness and surety of wired connections over the convenience of going wireless. With the new G1 controller, those users don't have to worry about battery internals with a passthrough power design that makes it easier to keep everything maintained and always full of power while the user engages for extended periods. For many, the surety of a wired connection and durability of hall effect vs the mechanical joystick components that degrade over time will hold great appeal.

Hall effect joysticks rated for 5 million uses and modular grips define the wired peripheral

The new iQOO G1 is a telescopic mobile gaming controller crafted with the iQOO ecosystem in mind. The controller simply plugs into the handset with a USB-C port. No wireless drops or interference will occur with the nature of that simple connection method. It also has a modular design for grips that slot into the main body and offer a wide range of sizes to accommodate different hand sizes as well as phone sizes.

Specifications

  • Joystick Type: Hall effect
  • Joystick Lifespan: 5 million uses
  • Connectivity: USB-C
  • Pass-through Charging: 15W
  • Weight: 176.5 grams (with larger grips)

The iQOO G1 features a telescopic design with modular grips.

In the specs, we find info regarding the hall effect joysticks, which will last for 5 million uses and make this controller last longer over time. There's a 176.5-gram weight when the larger grips are attached. That telescopic design goes up to a maximum length of 211mm.

That accommodates a variety of phone sizes. The controller will offer 15W passthrough charging, meaning the device can be powered up while in use with the controller, but there is no battery inside the controller.

The controller connects via USB-C and supports 15W pass-through charging.

For now, this controller will only work with a limited number of iQOO devices. Those are the iQOO 16, iQOO Neo 12, iQOO Pad Ultra, and iQOO Pad Pro 8.8-inch. The controller requires at least OriginOS 7.

It also works with iQOO Game Space for customization. You can check our earlier coverage of the iQOO Pad Pro bringing 165Hz OLED. That's right: the iQOO team is all about that high-performance mobile hardware.

The G1 controller will only be available in China. It launches on November 4, 2026. That'll be for 499 yuan.

That's about $74.69 US Dollars. That's pretty affordable, especially for those who already have a handset in the supported category. However, it's important to know that at this point in time, the controller will only have certain features available for the supported devices listed above.

hall effect sticks for 75 bucks is actually a steal tbh

does it work with older iqoo phones or just the 16 and neo 12?

    1. Morrow

only the listed devices. requires originos 7 specifically.

the passthrough charging is nice but i worry about heat buildup during long sessions.
