Huawei is increasing the number of smartphone models they have in the 2026 lineup, by launching a new model in the form of the Pura 90 Plus. Such an addition is good for consumers that are interested in having bigger screens, and better imaging, but do not wish to go all-in on the top tier Pro Max model. As per leak, it seems the brand is playing a strategic game, where they are trying to bridge the gap between Pura 90 and Pro Max (in the upcoming model series).

New smartphone variant adds larger screen and distinct camera module to 2026 lineup

It is worth noting that this model, internally dubbed 'Lucia' is an entirely different model, and not a rebadged model. To begin with, this model comes with a 6.8-inch 1.5K display which makes for a bigger screen size in comparison to the standard Pura 90. For the back, we have a triangular-shaped triple camera module, situated in the top left corner. This helps in establishing a fresh visual identity, that is different from previous models.

Huawei Pura 90 Plus Rumored Specifications

  • Main Camera Sensor: 50MP 1-inch RYYB with variable aperture
  • Display Size: 6.8 inches
  • Internal Codename: Lucia
  • Camera Module Design: Triangular triple-camera module
  • Expected Colors: Obsidian Black, Snow White, Dawn Gold, Sunset Purple

It seems imaging is the key here. We have a 50MP 1-inch RYYB sensor for the primary camera which comes with variable aperture. RYYB 1-inch sensor is meant to improve the low light performance, and depth control. The four expected colors include: Obsidian Black, Snow White, Dawn Gold and Sunset Purple.

It is expected that this model will be part of the lineup along with existing Pura 90, Pro, and Pro Max models for 2026. This is coming on the heels of the base Pura 90 series launching in April 2026. We recently covered the HarmonyOS update for the Huawei Pura X Max.

This is proof that Huawei is actively involved in rolling out imaging updates for their portfolio. Huawei Pura 90 Plus is said to get a 6.8-inch 1.5K display, with a triangular triple camera module which makes it distinct from other models in the lineup.

It's worth mentioning that we only have tipster details for now, which are yet to be confirmed by Huawei. Also, we do not have any pricing details, nor launch dates. This is still a rumor, until Huawei releases the official specs, and release windows.
