Mobile DJs looking to leave behind the laptop in favor of iPhone or iPad are in for a treat with the new Serato DJ 5.0 release. This update brings a new world of possibilities to the iOS platform by bringing the core desktop features to the iOS platform. That means that you can now prep tracks and play your set on your tablet or phone.
Native iOS app allows track prep and live performance without a laptop
Now that means no need for your laptop for live performance or when practicing. This makes your setup way simpler and less complicated.
The new native iOS application includes Lucid Beatgrids engine, Open Streaming, and Cue Loops (now out of beta). Serato claims that with the new software you can now prep and play without using a laptop.
With over 120 supported hardware setups you can connect to your current controller or decks. The minimum system requirements needed to run the app are iOS or iPadOS 18.6.
The app also offers streaming services such as Apple Music and Spotify so you can have more options than just your local files. You can download the basic app for free but to gain access to advanced features you will need to pay or subscribe.
A one-time purchase is 149.00 USD (or roughly $149) or you could choose to subscribe to the $14.99 a month Serato DJ Suite. The new iOS app is released in conjunction with Serato DJ 5.0 being officially released.
Serato DJ 5.0 on the desktop also gets the new Lucid Beatgrids engine and Open Streaming. This is the first time Serato has offered a full laptop free experience for iOS DJs.
