iQOO has announced the Pad Pro which is a small tablet targeted at mobile gamers looking for a console experience in a handheld form. The Pad Pro is for gamers who care more about having high refresh rates with active cooling than portability. With the 165Hz OLED display and dedicated Q3 gaming chip, iQOO is making a strong statement that it's entering the niche of specialized gaming tablets rather than an overall productivity machine.

Compact device targets mobile gamers with specialized hardware and active cooling

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powers the 8.8-inch display and supports powerful gaming on the Pad Pro. iQOO also added a dedicated Q3 gaming chip to the Pad Pro to offload some of the rendering duties to keep latency low for competitive games. Touch and gyroscope controls have been optimized for gaming to make sure the input is as good as the hardware.

The iQOO Pad Pro will have a 9,020mAh battery that should let you play for long periods of time without having to recharge too often. There's an active cooling fan to help dissipate the heat coming from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Q3 chip when playing for long periods of time. The Pad Pro has an Ice Blade Blue colorway and packs an 8.8-inch 165Hz OLED display for smooth visuals.

iQOO has confirmed that the Pad Pro will go on sale on October 28 in China. The colorway will be Ice Blade Blue but there's no word on price or memory configurations yet. iQOO also hasn't confirmed if this will be available outside of China so there is no verification on the global release date or price yet.

This announcement comes after there were leaks about an iQOO Compact Gaming Tablet with similar specs for battery and cooling. The Pad Pro is a direct competitor to something like the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 when it comes to gaming tablets. If you are interested in this specific hardware configuration, you'll want to keep an eye on official sources for pricing after the Chinese launch has been completed.
