DLSS 5 mod delivers up to 40% FPS boost in Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3

NVIDIA's optimized DLSS 5 model delivers up to 40% FPS gains in Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 while cutting VRAM usage by 20%. Modders have extracted the DLL for unsupported titles.

NVIDIA DLSS 5
GAME PERFORMANCE

has recently rolled out an optimized version of 5 rendering. The improved technology is able to deliver a massive frame rate boost while also saving a lot of memory. The significance of this rollout lies in the fact that users will be able to get more performance out of their current hardware setup.

Modders extract the optimized DLL to enable neural rendering in unsupported games

You won't need to buy a new graphics card. Thankfully, modders have already extracted the new software module and PC gamers can start benefiting from these optimizations right now.

  • DLSS-NR Version: V310.9.16.0
  • Performance Gain (General): up to 40%
  • Performance Gain (Cyberpunk 2077): 22%
  • Performance Gain (STALKER 2 / The Last of Us Part II): 25%
  • Performance Gain (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered): 40%

The new software module is named DLSS-NR V310.9.16.0. Modder Renan Maniero has extracted the DLL file from NVIDIA's system. With this mod, you'll be able to run the technology on games that don't officially support DLSS 5. By extracting the software module, users will now be able to try out the new neural rendering in more games other than ones that are officially certified by the company.

Based on what we've seen from independent testing channels, the performance improvements are massive. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is getting a massive 40% performance boost. Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a 22% performance boost to 66 FPS.

In STALKER 2 and The Last of Us Part II, frame rates are up by 25%. NVIDIA claims that their new model is up to 2x faster than the previous model. It also consumes up to 20% less VRAM.

In addition to that, the model size is reduced by around 24%. Moreover, the optimized DLSS 5 model also significantly reduces the power consumption of the GPU. So whether you're using RTX 4060 or RTX 5090, you'll see a double digit performance improvement.

But the trade-off here is that the update shows a small but noticeable drop in image fidelity. If you're a gamer who wants higher frame rates above all else, even if the visuals aren't crystal clear, then this update will be good for you.

We had noticed a previous update of DLSS 5 that touched upon similar balancing and stability issues in various games. It's good to see NVIDIA actively working to improve the neural rendering pipeline and make it more efficient. At this point in time, you can try out the modded DLSS 5 DLL but it's unclear whether it'll be officially supported in unsupported games or not.
