Apple's iPhone Duo has made its debut on the Geekbench benchmarking site, making it official that this is Apple's first foldable smartphone. The reason why this is important is that it is setting the baseline for the performance of Apple's new form factor that the company is about to bring to global markets. If you are looking for high-end mobile devices, this new Apple device is one that falls into the premium segment, with major hardware upgrades.
Apple's first foldable smartphone debuts on Geekbench with iPhone 18 Pro-level performance
The iPhone Duo's model ID is 19,4 and we can see that it's powered by Apple's A20 Pro. This is the same processor that's inside the iPhone 18 Pro series, so it looks like Apple's foldable doesn't need a different type of silicon. It's combined with 12 GB of RAM which is important for the bigger and foldable display.
Specifications
- Model ID: iPhone 19,4
- Chipset: A20 Pro
- RAM: 12 GB
- Geekbench 7 Single-Core Score: 3,986
- Geekbench 7 Multi-Core Score: 11,067
We can see on Geekbench 7 tests that this iPhone Duo has a single core score of 3,986, while multi core is 11,067. Basically this is about the same as Apple's regular candybar smartphones, which feature the A20 Pro chip. Overall, according to the benchmarking site, this iPhone Duo is the most powerful foldable smartphone on the market right now.
Starting October 16 in global regions, the pre-orders for iPhone Duo will be available. The general availability will be in about a week from the start of pre-orders. Again, this is an approximation for the exact day. As we have previously reported, iPhone Duo is a smartphone that we covered here with the $19 cover layer replacement option to address foldable creases.
Apple is bringing the iPhone Duo as a high-performance foldable device, which is as fast as its non-foldable siblings. The combination of A20 Pro chip and 12 GB of RAM are good enough to push the experience for the bigger display with demanding tasks. It'll be globally available, starting mid-October 2024.
