If you're an interested buyer who's hoping for a massive jump in camera quality from Samsung in its next mid-range phone, you may want to dial back your expectations. According to leaked info, the next Galaxy A58 is going to have the same exact camera specs as the Galaxy A57. So no, you won't be getting any better photo quality or versatility in the next Galaxy A58.
Leaked details show the Galaxy A58 retains the same camera hardware as the Galaxy A57, including a 50 MP main sensor and a 7-year-old macro lens.
The Galaxy A58 is projected to arrive in spring 2027. This is the next iteration of the Galaxy A57 5G that arrived in April 2026. Samsung seems to be holding on to a strict consistency in hardware between these two Galaxy A models. For instance, there will still be no telephoto lens on the next Galaxy A58. There wasn't a telephoto lens before, either.
Galaxy A58 Camera Specs
- Selfie Camera Resolution: 12 MP
- Main Camera Resolution: 50 MP
- Ultra-wide Camera Resolution: 12 MP
- Macro Camera Resolution: 5 MP
- Telephoto Camera: None
GalaxyClub says that the back of the phone will have a 50 MP main camera and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera. For the selfie shooter, it's still a 12 MP shooter. There's also a 5 MP macro shooter on the back to round out the quad-camera setup.
Speaking of the 5 MP macro shooter, that's a holdover from the Galaxy A51 that launched in 2020. This exact macro sensor is seven years old by the time the Galaxy A58 launches. The rationale behind this stagnancy is to cut costs because of the DRAM crisis.
Remember, we've discussed the price game between the Galaxy A57 and its rivals, such as the Google Pixel 10a. The Google Pixel 10a price is increasing to $599, so that eliminates the price advantage the Pixel 10a has over the Samsung Galaxy A57. So that's the sort of competition Samsung is facing in the mid-range.
