The first major patch for Silent Hill: Townfall is live, and it brings some much-needed changes to The Weight boss. Konami released version 1.4.0 on October 8 to adjust difficulty and fix stability issues. This update matters because the previous boss encounter forced instant deaths on standard difficulties, which frustrated many players. We can now see how the developers are responding to player feedback on game balance.

Konami adjusts The Weight boss mechanics and fixes stability issues in update 1.4.0

The changes apply to all versions of the game on PS5, |S, , and Epic Games Store. Console players will see the download listed as Silent Hill: Townfall update 2.004 or 02.004.000. PC users on Steam and Epic get the 1.4.0 version. This ensures everyone across platforms experiences the same adjustments to enemy behavior and bug fixes.

  • Patch Version: 1.4.0 (Console: 2.004 / 02.004.000)
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games Store
  • Release Date: October 8

The Weight boss grab attacks now deal heavy damage instead of causing instant death on Story and Normal difficulties. The AI searching and hunting behaviors have been adjusted to prevent camping and excessive aggression. Enemy sensitivity to firearms, running, and hiding sounds has been reduced. The adjustments transform the encounter into a more dynamic battle rather than a predetermined obstacle.

Enemy melee counterattack frequency has been reduced, and grapple attempts during active block have been removed except for The Weight. The game adds a collectible manual for the Remote Systems Control console and updates the Aux Line puzzle layout. We fixed progress-blocking glass issues in Part 5 and corrected the projector slide name display bug. Out-of-bounds issues and frame pacing problems have also been resolved. Ultrawide monitor users can now see the Letterbox option, and AZERTY key bindings are added.

This patch follows the last Silent Hill: Townfall update, where several of the same balance and stability themes came up. The impact of these adjustments on the difficulty progression for new players is being monitored. The release confirms Konami is actively refining the game experience after launch. Players should download the update to experience the improved boss mechanics and stability fixes.
