Developer Andrew Hayes has launched C64-Live, a browser-based platform that brings Commodore 64 multiplayer gaming online. The platform allows users to host a live C64 emulator session, stream it to a browser, invite a second player, and allow spectators without any software installation.
Browser platform removes technical barriers
C64-Live supports cartridge, disk, PRG, and Snapshot loading. The platform is designed to make C64 multiplayer accessible to a wider audience. Hayes, who also created C64-Cade, said the goal is to bring C64 multiplayer "to the masses, not just the classes."
C64-Live is expected to be available globally starting in April 2026.
The platform builds on the legacy of the Commodore 64, a classic home computer from the 1980s. By offering online multiplayer through a browser, C64-Live removes the technical barriers that previously limited C64 gaming to enthusiasts with specialized hardware and software.
Time Extension reported on the platform's launch. Hayes has not confirmed further details about future updates or additional features.
