released new trailers today for community-created mods that bring modern graphics to older games. These updates show how the RTX Remix software tool is transforming classic titles with ray tracing and upscaling. Players who enjoy retro gaming can now see how these games look with current-generation lighting and performance features.

Community mods for classic titles get modern lighting and upscaling

The software involved is NVIDIA's RTX Remix, which allows modders to add path tracing and to legacy games. The new trailers cover four specific titles: Mirror's Edge, Morrowind, Painkiller, and Fallout 4. Each trailer demonstrates different aspects of the remastering process using NVIDIA's rendering technology.

Mirror's Edge uses physically based rendering, full ray tracing, and DLSS in a prologue version released in March 2026. Painkiller received an update to support NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction for better image quality. Morrowind is still in early development but offers a first look at modern assets and RTX technology.

Fallout 4 features a mod by Jacob Freeman that highlights the tool's capabilities with DLSS and Path Tracing. The mod celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the original Vault 1080 mod which first showcased volumetric lighting in the game. A preview from modder kim2091 shows the visual improvements available through the Remix platform.

The community has created mods for numerous other titles including Black Mesa, Star Wars Republic Commando, and BioShock. Some releases like the Mirror's Edge version have specific dates, while others like the Fallout 4 mod have no public ETA yet. The software continues to expand the library of remastered classics for PC gamers.

We looked at the last RTX Remix update earlier while tracking similar balance and stability themes in the community. The new trailers confirm that development is active across multiple genres and engine types. Modders are steadily adding high-fidelity graphics to games that originally shipped without them.
