PC HARDWARE

xTool revealed the X1, a modular laser system designed to help makers and online sellers handle diverse materials without buying multiple machines. This expandable approach means users can switch between cutting thick wood and engraving hard metals by swapping laser heads rather than purchasing new hardware. The system targets small business owners who need versatility in a single footprint.

Modular laser system ships late October for mixed-material production

The core unit combines a traditional 55W CO2 laser with a 20W diode laser mounted on a Galvo head. This hybrid motion system links a standard gantry with fast Galvo scanning across four axes to achieve speeds up to 6,000 mm/s. The machine maintains stability through a frame built using a 4,000-ton high-pressure die-casting process.

Specifications

  • Laser Types: 55W CO2, 20W Diode, 30W Fiber, 60W MOPA, 5W UV
  • Max Speed: 6,000 mm/s
  • Frame Construction: 4,000-ton high-pressure die-casting
  • Motion System: Four-axis hybrid motion

xTool expanded the X1 platform with three additional modular laser options: a 30W fiber laser, a 60W MOPA laser, and a 5W UV laser. These modular attachments enable the machine to engrave metals and delicate materials that typical CO2 or diode lasers cannot process. This modular architecture maintains a compact form factor while providing the versatility needed for demanding fabrication tasks.

Reservations for the X1 opened in September, with the official global launch scheduled for the end of October. xTool showcased the prototype at the SME Summit in the US and will display the final unit at IFA. Buyers can expect the system to arrive in late October, providing a unified solution for mixed-material production workflows.
