XMG has refreshed its 16-inch gaming laptop lineup for 2026, and the shift to the 5070 matters because it brings 12 GB of VRAM to a more accessible price point. Buyers who need high-refresh-rate gaming without the cost of flagship GPUs should look closely at these new configurations. The update targets users who want modern graphics performance in a portable chassis without paying premium prices for top-tier hardware.

New cooling fan and 300Hz panel join the 2026 refresh

The refresh covers two distinct models: the XMG Apex 16 (M26) and the XMG Pro 16 VE (M26). Both machines share the same 16-inch IPS display panel, which delivers a 300 Hz refresh rate and 500 nits of brightness. This screen supports 100% coverage of both sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces, ensuring accurate visuals for gaming and content creation.

Specifications

  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 12GB
  • CPU Options: Ryzen 9 9955HX, AMD Ryzen 9 8945HX, Core i9-14900HX
  • RAM: Up to 96 GB DDR5
  • Display: 16-inch IPS, 2560 x 1600, 300 Hz, 500 nits, 100% sRGB/DCI-P3
  • Weight: 2.35 kg (5.18 lbs)

Under the hood, the Apex 16 (M26) offers a choice between AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX and Ryzen 9 8945HX processors. The Pro 16 VE (M26) pairs the new GPU with the Intel Core i9-14900HX. Both configurations come standard with 1 TB SSDs and can be upgraded to 96 GB of DDR5 RAM. The chassis weighs 2.35 kg (5.18 lbs) and houses a 99.8 Wh battery.

XMG improved thermal management by adding a third fan dedicated specifically to cooling the RAM modules. Extra ventilation slots underneath the chassis further assist with heat dissipation during intensive tasks. These cooling upgrades aim to maintain stable performance levels when the system is pushed to its limits.

Pricing starts at 2399 EUR (around $2,791) for the base configurations in the EU market. Buyers can currently configure and order the XMG Apex 16 (M26) through Bestware. The XMG Pro 16 VE (M26) follows the same hardware trajectory with the same cooling and display improvements.

These 2026 refreshes replace previous generations with updated GPUs and refined thermal designs. The inclusion of 12 GB VRAM in the RTX 5070 addresses previous memory constraints in mid-range gaming laptops. The laptops feature dual RAM slots and accessible storage to facilitate component upgrades.
