Microsoft is updating the Xbox Game Pass library this mid-October, adding major new releases while removing several established titles. This shift matters because subscribers can immediately access high-profile war games and narrative adventures without extra purchases, but they must act quickly before popular games leave the service. The update balances fresh content with library maintenance, a standard cycle that keeps the subscription value dynamic for active players.
Microsoft adds major releases while removing established titles from the library
The centerpiece of this wave is Battlefield 6, which arrives on October 13 for Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Microsoft describes the title as offering all-out warfare, fast-paced close-quarters combat, and tactical destruction. EA Play members can unlock the EA Play Deployment Pack and claim the Season 5 EA Play Pack, while Game Pass Ultimate subscribers receive EA Play included with a 10% discount on eligible EA digital purchases.
Other new arrivals round out the lineup with diverse genres and release dates. Forever Ago, Echo Weaver, and Neon Abyss 2 join the service on October 8 for Cloud, Console, and PC. Valor Mortis follows on October 13 for Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, and PC. Bluey's Happy Snaps and Chained Beasts arrive on October 15 for Cloud, Console, Handheld, and PC. Beyond These Stars launches exclusively on PC on October 16.
Several titles are departing the service on October 15, including A Plague Tale: Requiem, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Pacific Drive. Players who have not yet started these games should prioritize them before the removal date. This rotation ensures that the library remains current with new releases while phasing out older content.
When we covered the last Xbox Game Pass update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. This mid-October wave continues that pattern of integrating major third-party releases with routine library adjustments. The confirmed dates and platform availability provide a clear schedule for subscribers to plan their gaming sessions.
