Tabletop Tavern launches today as a fast-paced indie roguelike that adapts Total War's tactical skirmishes into bite-sized encounters. The developer TJ released version 1.0 of the title on Steam with a 25 percent launch discount until Thursday June 18.

Developer TJ releases tactical skirmish adaptation with no paid DLC plans

The game follows a branching path of battlefields and events similar to Slay the Spire or FTL. Players deploy units across terrain maps where spearmen counter cavalry and other rock-paper-scissors mechanics determine combat outcomes.

Victory grants rewards like recruiting new units, ransoming captives, looting gear, or conscripting survivors. Developer TJ promises one purchase covers the whole game with no paid DLC ever planned for future content.

The developer outlined a clear update roadmap for the title. Patch 1.1 adds mages and spellcasting mechanics this fall while version 1.2 introduces two new factions later in the year. Version 1.3 will eventually bring multiplayer support to the experience.
