Subnautica 2 has achieved a massive player count milestone on Steam. The game reached an all-time peak of 453,445 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
Early access launch numbers
The early access title also sold over 1 million copies within its first day of release, as announced by the official Subnautica account on X. For comparison, the original Subnautica peaked at 51,156 concurrent players.
Subnautica 2 is available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on Xbox Series X/S through Game Preview and Game Pass. The game entered early access on February 17, 2025.
The strong launch numbers suggest significant interest in the underwater survival sequel. Unknown Worlds Entertainment has not commented on future content updates or a full release timeline.
