Unknown Worlds Entertainment creative development lead Anthony Gallegos has addressed pirates who bragged about playing Subnautica 2 before its early access launch on the game's official Discord server.
Gallegos understands piracy but condemns flaunting
Subnautica 2 entered early access on May 14, 2026. Gallegos said he understands why people pirate games, especially given current economic pressures. However, he criticized those who flaunted their pirated copies in front of legitimate players who were waiting for the official release.
Gallegos noted that one pirate even asked for help with an incomplete leaked build on the official Discord. He called that behavior foolish and expressed disappointment that someone would pirate a game he spent years working on.
The game faced development challenges due to corporate legal battles between Unknown Worlds and publisher Krafton. Gallegos' comments were shared on the r/subnautica subreddit.
