Saber Interactive released the Purgation Update for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 on May 21. The patch brings the game to version 13.0, with console players receiving update 1.013 (complete version 1.013.000). This major release introduces a new operation called Purgation and expands customization systems across multiple gameplay modes.

New operation, battle simulator, and wargear overhaul expand gameplay options

The update adds Wargear 2.0, which allows each class to wear multiple wargear pieces simultaneously. Players can now access a Battle Simulator for practice and loadout testing. The patch also introduces the Bolt Carbine One-Handed as a new secondary weapon for Assault and Bulwark classes. A Pyreblaster Canister functions as an incendiary grenade for PvE gameplay.

Siege Mode receives a significant overhaul with the Siege 2.0 update. This includes two new bosses, Hive Tyrant and Vortex Beast, alongside reworked timer mechanics and a Blessings/Atonements system. The Iron Hands Chapter Pack adds a Techmarine Champion with signature Omnissian Axe Skin and four successor chapters to the Season Pass. Non-headshot damage for bolter weapons increased by approximately 30 percent.

Developers stated they will continue expanding the customization system with robes and tabards coming in future updates. Players must earn new wargear items through gameplay rather than direct purchase. The team also confirmed that contested health rework remains on their roadmap but requires additional playtesting before implementation.
