Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update globally. The update introduces several major changes to the Android skin, including a redesigned navigation system and enhanced customization options.
Quick Panel gets unrestricted customization
One UI 8.5 removes restrictions on Quick Panel customization, allowing users to drag, resize, and remove any slider, toggle, or widget. A new floating tab bar replaces the traditional bottom navigation bar. The update also adds Call Screening via Galaxy AI to filter spam calls, and Quick Share becomes compatible with Apple AirDrop for cross-platform file sharing. Lock screen customization now includes automatic placement of people and pets around the clock, along with live weather effects.

The update is available globally starting May 15, 2026.
One UI 8.5 builds on the foundation of One UI 8.0, which launched earlier. The new version focuses on user interface flexibility and AI-powered features. The floating tab bar and unrestricted Quick Panel are among the most requested changes from users.

GizmoChina reported the rollout details. Samsung has not confirmed the full list of supported devices or any regional variations.
