YouTuber ETA Prime has transformed a RedMagic 11S Pro smartphone into a functional miniature Machine. This project demonstrates that high-end Android hardware can handle PC gaming workloads when paired with the right cooling and software stack. The build offers a glimpse into portable console emulation without requiring a dedicated handheld device.

The core of the modification relies on the RedMagic 11S Pro, which Nubia equips with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The phone features 12 or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a liquid cooling system paired with a 24,000 RPM internal fan. ETA Prime housed the device in a 3D printed clamshell case designed to mimic the aesthetic of a traditional Steam Machine.

  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
  • RAM: 12 or 16GB LPDDR5X
  • Cooling: Liquid cooling system with 24,000 RPM internal fan
  • Software: DroidDeck

To bridge the gap between Android and PC gaming, the build utilizes DroidDeck to port Steam Big Picture to the Android operating system. The software stack employs DXVK translation to handle DirectX 12 titles on the mobile chip. The hardware setup also includes a USB hub and an external Peltier cooler for additional thermal management.

Performance tests indicate the device can run Cyberpunk 2077 at a steady 30 FPS at 720p resolution. Other titles like Spider-Man 2, Injustice 2, and Left 4 Dead 2 run between 30 and 60 FPS at the same resolution. Despite the extensive cooling solutions, thermal throttling persists, and DX12 games may still crash as the app remains under development.

We have tracked the RedMagic 11S Pro closely and previously covered its global release plans. This hardware mod highlights the raw processing power of the device while exposing the current limitations of software translation layers. The project confirms the phone's capability but also underscores the stability challenges of running unported PC games on mobile hardware.
