Rant Gaming studio head Nikita Buyanov shared new details about the upcoming sci-fi extraction shooter Fragmentary Order. The game expands on the developer's previous work by moving combat to space and increasing map scale significantly.
Studio head Nikita Buyanov reveals expansive space maps and extended raid mechanics for the upcoming sci-fi shooter.
Fragmentary Order builds on the extraction shooter formula but diverges from traditional mechanics. Players can remain in a single raid for one or two hours instead of short bursts. The studio also removed strict extraction requirements at the end of each match.
The maps will be five times larger than typical locations found in previous titles by the same developer. Environments include Earth, Venus, a space station, and a partially terraformed Mars called Blue Mars. The team already showcased the Blue Mars map in recent development screenshots.
Fragmentary Order supports drivable vehicles within its environments. The game will offer multiple modes at launch, including PvPvE and a PvE-focused option. Buyanov stated the studio aims for a balanced experience that works for both hardcore veterans and newcomers.
The release timing for the first playable build remains unclear. Buyanov expressed optimism about an imminent launch but provided no specific date or platform details.
